The untold story from Norways shooting massacre

Super quick rant.  I’m not even gonna edit it.  that’s how I roll.

OK, I have to bring this to light. Raise your hand if you know the name, Anders Behring Breivik.  Not too many off hand, right?  OK, how many heard about the Norwegian massacre by a Christian extremist?  That rings a bell, right? And there may have even been mention of survivors.  But who among you know who Hege Dalen and Toril Hansen are?  No one?  They were far away from the shooting, heard the shots, went TOWARDS the danger 4 TIMES in their boat and saved 40 kids. Why didn’t you hear about them? They are a lesbian, married couple. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but fuck the media. That’s why I don’t watch the news on a regular basis. They won’t give credit where it is due, and they won’t call the sick bastard a Christian.  But if it was a straight couple and a Muslim, you better believe they would have it all over the news.  Back to our regularly scheduled banality.

Net Neutrality on the defense again…

I know it’s been a while since I checked in, but I consider this too important to just sit by.  For those that don’t know Net Neutrality means keeping the internet neutral.  What big business wants to do is cut the internet into smaller pieces.  Exactly like they do with cable and satellite.  If you pay a certain amount of money, you get basic internet.  Just as an example, let’s say you’re favorite little websites, privately owned URLs that you go to to have a laugh.  Then for a few more dollars, you get access to news networks and sports.  And for more money, you get the premium package that’ll give you access to most, but still not all of the internet.

A lot of people will argue that the only people that really care are pirates and hackers.  Since this will make things a little more difficult for them.  But this is not true.  It affects a lot of other people.  People like me that own our own little websites will be pushed out by businesses and networks with money that can afford to pay money and have their content viewed instead of ours.  There is an article and a petition to sign HERE.

I wrote a heartfelt letter to Google and was hoping to post my manifesto here.  But like the big dork I am, I copied something else onto my clipboard which overwrites the previous “copy”.  TARD!  Either way, please take a moment to read and sign.

Taking a bite out of Apple

If you follow cell phone news at all, and maybe even if you don’t, you surely know by now about the problem with the new iPhone, the iPhone 4.  For those that might have NO idea… The new iPhone 4 is being reported to have an issue in some sets that cause you to lose reception and drop calls if you hold it a certain way(which is actually quite common).  Steve Jobs supposedly answered an email about this issue stating, “Just avoid holding it in that way.”  WOW, really?!  That’s your answer.  So, after Apple did some investigating, they released a statement saying that the problem was some lines of code that were causing the phone to display more bars than you actually had and it was going to be fixed with a software update.

I just had a realization about this lost reception/you’re-holding-it-wrong crap. So, Apple claims that it’s due to programming that is displaying the wrong number of bars right? Well that didn’t sit right with me. How can “displaying” the wrong number of bars actually cause you to drop calls? If anything, you would show NO bars but still be on a call.  And now I figured out why it seemed odd. They programmed the phones to show more bars than it actually had so that people would think they were getting better reception. Since they ran a risk of people finding out, they used the crappy antenna design to disclose this programming and fix it without being accused of doing it on purpose. I very seriously doubt this update is gonna fix the actual reception problem. It’ll just remove the farce they were trying to pass off as better reception.

Debunk that conspiracy theory Apple fanboys.  LoL, I’m only semi-quasi-half way serious… kind of.

MIchael Jackson Dead.

Filed under: Celebrities, News, Personal Thoughts — Tags: , — Arturo @ 4:12 pm

WOW… that’s all I can say.

http://www.tmz.com/2009/06/25/michael-jackson-dies-death-dead-cardiac-arrest/

Edit: OK, that was my initial reaction.  I was at work at the time and posted a quicky.  Now that I’ve had some time to get my thoughts together, here’s my real post.

Even now I find it hard to decide how I really feel.  I was a pretty big fan back in the day.  I come from the LP record days and I had Thriller and I bought Bad, that’s right I said it, I bought it.  I thought he was the greatest entertainer I had ever seen.  Maybe because it was my era and I couldn’t really appreciate the artists that came before him.  But let’s be honest.  He was one of the first TRUE entertainers.  He sang, he danced, he put on one hell of a show.  There have been concerts for many years, but very few artists before him could do what he did.  I consider him to be the prototype of the modern entertainer.  Not just as a musician or artist.

On the other hand, he had his faults.  Even I admit that it tainted my appreciation of the guy.  I found myself backing off as a “fan”.  The thing is, in my opinion, no one can say if he was guilty or not.  That’s for him, the children, and God to sort out.  No one outside of that group knows what happened for sure.  Did he mess up by even putting himself in that position?  Of course.  But no one is in the moral or legal position to make a 100% judgement.  Yes, he settled out of court, and a lot of people see that as guilty.  I might agree, but on the other hand, if I was one of the parents, no dollar amount would have sufficed.  I would have fought for life in prison.  I might “settle” for a locked room, no windows, some power tools, and one hour alone with him.  But no money would have kept me away.

Like I said, no one will ever really know for sure.  I look at him as a human being that died.  For him and Farah Fawcett I say: I feel for their families’ loss and wish them all the best.  They both entertained and gave of themselves to the  world.  Goodbye to a great artist, a great actress, and two fellow human beings.
